An equipment, more precise than the 2D X-ray, that examines a specimen by transmitting non-destructive x-rays to 3D scan the internals of a specimen.
Technology Introduction
The 2D X-rays widely used to inspect the internals of a specimen had problem of superimposed imaging that hinders accurate interpretations of internal defects. However, 3D CT removes this problem. While 2D X-rays only give you a single 2-Dimensional image, 3D CT gets you a 3D image by superimposing thousands of images. Hence, the internals of the specimen can be viewed from different angles and depths. With video clip function, it becomes widely used in analysing the internals of products or materials.
